Call Monitoring Program

BPA Quality Builder Webinars

As we finalize the transition of the call monitoring program to BPA Quality, we look forward to the process becoming almost completely automated and seamless. BPA Quality's easy-to-access portal and self-service review of scores will make this process easier and more efficient for everyone involved in the process. To help you become familiar with the new program, BPA Quality will be conducting two 30-minute informational webinars that will demonstrate how to use their site and answer any questions you may have. (Please note: You only need to attend one of the sessions, but in order to accommodate your schedules, Wednesday will be a repeat of the information provided on Tuesday).

Marketers please mark your calendars to attend one of the two session options below for a demonstration of the BPA Quality Builder website enabling you to download your calls automatically.

Regulatory Updates

VPA Legislative Monitoring Report

As an Association dedicated to upholding the highest standards in the vehicle service contract (VSC) industry, we are always monitoring and tracking proposed and passed bills and regulations that pertain to our industry. We would like to share with you here May and June's Legislative Monitoring Reports and Memos, which describe the potential impact of all bills and regulations, assesses whether they primarily affect providers (i.e. administrators), marketers or both, outlines the movement of the bills and regulations, and contains links to the text of the bills and regulations.

Nevada Assembly Bill 213

The June Memo and Legislative Monitoring Report outlines a new law in Nevada that revises provisions governing the issuance of a certificate of registration to a provider of a service contract. It allows a provider to qualify for the issuance of a certificate of registration by maintaining a reserve account and depositing certain security with the Commissioner of Insurance in lieu of maintaining specified liability insurance. For more information, please take a look at the June 2013 Memo and Legislative Monitoring Report in the Member Resource section on the VPA website.

Washington - SERFF Update

The state of Washington has adopted a rule (WA 32720), effective July 1, 2013, that requires motor vehicle service contract providers to file their service contract forms through SERFF and requires insurers and insurance credit scoring vendors to file their insurance scoring models through SERFF. More information can be found on the VPA website.

Public Relations Update

The VPA has entered into an agreement with the InView Profile Series to produce three pieces of video content that will help generate goodwill for our profile and promote our image in a very positive way. The first video will be a 4-5 minute educational documentary-style segment introduced by Larry King and featured in a half-hour episode airing on the cable business network (on a forum like Fox Business Network, etc.); the second video will be a 6-8 minute corporate DVD that will be more promotional/marketing oriented and available for consumers to view on the VPA website; and finally a 30-second commercial for marketing and promotional use. Production is just getting underway. If you have any questions, feedback, suggestions or ideas, please contact Chris Carenza at chris@vpanet.org.

Member Showcase

The VPA Voice will periodically feature members who have made an effort to give back to the community in one way or another. If you would like your company to be featured here and on the website, please contact Chris Carenza for more information on this member benefit.

The VPA would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who donated to the Red Cross to help the Oklahoma tornado victims. We were excited and very grateful to see an outpouring of support from so many individuals and companies. Thank you for your generosity.

Quality Corner

As part of our mission to Promote and Protect our members, the VPA would like to share with you some tips to help your business succeed.

Tony Hsieh, entrepreneur and CEO of Zappos.com, is not afraid to share his professional triumphs and tribulations with the world. Even after successfully selling his first company, Link Exchange, to Microsoft for $265 million, he wished he could have done things differently. He went on to build Zappos, a huge online shoe retailer that he sold to Amazon for $1.2 billion. This article from Addicted2Success.com outlines 10 important lessons that every entrepreneur and businessperson can learn from Tony, including "Lesson #4: Focus on the Customer not the Product." Tony actually said he's more passionate about providing excellent customer service than he is about shoes. Take a look at the article and see if there's a leaf you can take out of Tony's book and apply to your business.
