Vehicle Protection Association Elects New Board Officers

The Vehicle Protection Association (VPA), a trade association for the vehicle service contracts industry, continues to grow a leadership team that works for the benefit of the association’s members, the industry and its customers.

Selbyville, DE, November 4, 2011 –
The Vehicle Protection Association (VPA), an association formed to promote regulatory transparency, education and accountability for marketing and servicing automotive service contracts, today announced the results of its recent board election.

Carter Patterson has been elected by the VPA Board to serve a one-year term as chairman. A veteran industry executive, Carter currently serves as CEO of Forte Data Systems.

As vice chairman, the Board elected Matthew Weil to a one-year term. Matthew hails from American Guardian Warranty Services.

The VPA Board selected recently elected board member Ed Walder as secretary-treasurer. Ed is a managing member of Omnisure Group LLC, a payment plan provider based in Chicago.

The group also elected Chris Shoemaker of Nationwide Auto Protection to the role of Certified Marketer Council chair. Bill Gilman of Warrantech continues as chair of the Administrator’s Council, while Paul Chernawsky of Endurance will continue to chair the Marketer’s Council.

Other serving board members are Paul Sporn (Royal), Rebecca Howard (Paylink Direct) and Jason Currier (American Auto Shield).

Our new board leaders bring a wealth of experience from within the industry, and I’m happy to welcome their service and talents to what has become an active and extremely productive not-for-profit board,” Larry Hecker, executive director of the VPA, said. “As an organization, the VPA has taken significant steps to protect consumers while maintaining the integrity of the vehicle service contracts industry. We look forward to continuing this mission with our new board of directors.”
